During the first week of the All Saints' Day holidays, the Mont des Accords College welcomed nearly 90 students as part of the Open School systemFrom 6th to 3rd grade, these middle school students aged 11 to 15, many of whom are from Sandy Ground, found their way back to college for learn differently, between school, artistic and sports workshops.

 

Every morning, the day starts at 8 a.m. with the workshop “Let’s improve our French”, before giving way to various activities. On the program: murals, gardening, drumming, dancing, cinema, patchwork and water sports in partnership with the Mix'Art association et the college sports associationThe school life building, supervised by the CPE Cédric Onestas, has thus adorned itself with new colors: “We decided to beautify our establishment with the students. They leave their mark within the college, which reinforces their sense of belonging.”

In the educational garden, the middle school students weeded, pruned, planted, and added red stones to create paths. “It’s important to take care of the garden we’ve built; we’ll continue to maintain it,” said one student.

Au Permanent, under the leadership ofAnge-Marie Venthou-Dumaine, others work on actions around harassment and secularism, while benefiting froma personalized hour of reading. “The 3rd graders help the younger ones to read, in a spirit of mutual support,” says the college’s librarian.

Future candidates for the pattern have attended revision and oral expression sessions with the poet Leon Noel, who came to voluntarily supervise the students. Between learning and mutual support, the middle school students have an enriching collective experience, punctuated by a snack offered in the morning and lunch in the canteen.

“The goal is to bring young people together and offer them a structuring framework during the holidays,” summarizes Cédric Onestas. A great way to reclaim your school and grow up there in a different way. _Vx
