HEALTH – CULTURE: Works as bridges between patients and staff | FAXINFO

Art continues to be a feature of the corridors of the Louis-Constant Fleming Hospital Center. A year and a half after the first exposure of the device Art for Science Care, the teamArt For Science Association, conducted by Melanie Dal Gobbo, accompanied byAlexia Carole et Cloé Robert, proceeded, last Monday, to the renewal of works exhibited in the surgical departments, and inaugurated a new exhibition in the outpatient consultations.

Now, more than 75 works are hung in hospital spaces, from the outpatient surgery unit to administrative offices, and near a hundred if we count those chosen by the staff. These latter come from the Art For Science catalog, which brings together the creations of artists trained in benefits of art on the brainEach reproduction, which invites contemplation, is accompanied by an explanatory text in French, English and Spanish.

For Valerie Heas, deputy director of the hospital center, this project is part of a comprehensive approach to care : “It is important to hang these works in the hospital because they open the way to other ways of treating than pure and simple medication”. In favor of a more participatory medicine, she sees art as a support for dialogue between caregivers and patients: “It is essential to make it available to hospital staff, we are on a change of paradigmEach artistic work will help strengthen the dialogue between staff and patients.”

The device will soon be extended to the psychiatry department, before being returned to Saint-Barthélemy in November. Further proof that, yes, art also heals the mind. _Vx
