Following the damage caused to the building of the Methodist Church of Marigot by Hurricane Irma in 2017, the Executive Council awarded a grant of 500 euros to the Association Eglise Méthodiste Antilles-Guyane for the repair of the main building. , located on Liberty Street.

This restoration represents a character of public interest insofar as the Methodist Ebenezer Chapel is part of the historical heritage of the Collectivity of Saint-Martin.

The allocated public funds are exclusively assigned to repair work on the building as provided for in the agreement signed between the Collectivity of Saint-Martin and the association.

On the program of work: the removal of the old roof, the reconstruction of the roof and the bell tower, repair of all the frames, electricity, air conditioning, plumbing and sanitary facilities.

All other work necessary for the complete renovation of the project, including in particular the parish hall, will be financed by the association, which is committed to identical reconstruction.

The total provisional budget for the restoration of this building amounts to 1 euros. Work has just started and should be completed in 382.

As part of this approach, the Collectivity will also participate in the rehabilitation of the Catholic churches of Marigot and Grand-Case, buildings which are also part of the historical heritage of the Collectivity of Saint-Martin.
