Arriving in the country on November 12, Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands devoted her first day of working visit to nature preservation and education.

As patron of the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA), she was keen to plant a sea grape tree at Emilio Wilson Park to symbolize the importance of preserving the island's natural and cultural heritage. This Thursday, November 14, marked the inauguration of the reopening of the terminal of the Princess Juliana International Airport in the presence of the former Queen of the Netherlands from 1980 to 2013. Princess Beatrix arrived around 16 p.m. for the ceremony, which included a number of officials including the Prime Minister of Sint Maarten, Luc Mercelina. More details in our next edition. _VX
