Le Saint-Martin local court will host, this Friday, October 3 from 14 p.m. to 16 p.m., a new edition of the Night of Law, with a conference-debate devoted to the traffic crime. Organized for the benefit of the Departmental Council for Access to Law in Guadeloupe, the event will bring together magistrates, police officers, lawyers, addiction doctors and associations such as France Victims 978 and SXM Road Safety.
At each edition, the Night of Law arouses a strong enthusiasm, attracting a large and diverse audience. Previous editions have regularly sold out, particularly thanks to the participation of schoolchildren, who are invited to familiarize themselves with the issues of justice and citizenship from a very young age. This early awareness is all the more necessary as road crime remains a real scourge in Saint-Martin..
There’s plenty of court hearings sadly illustrate this reality: many of the cases dealt with concern driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speeding or even dangerous behavior, sometimes causing serious accidents. The conference-debate therefore aims to highlight these local issues, to explain the reasons for this and to discuss ways of remedying it.
Beyond the exchanges between experts, the event aims to to challenge consciences and to remind everyone that every road user, whether motorist, two-wheeler or pedestrian, has a role to play in reducing tragedies. The Night of Law, through its educational and participatory approach, thus establishes itself as an essential citizen meeting, in the service of prevention and collective security. _Vx
