
The Sint Maarten Police (KPSM) are investigating a armed robbery occurred on Saturday, October 25th around 17 p.m. in a Front Street jewelry store, in Philipsburg. According to initial reports, Three individuals reportedly arrived in a small grey vehicle before entering the store and fleeing with valuables.
After the robbery, the perpetrators abandoned their car on Front Street and fled on foot towards the Boardwalk, where two of them have straddled scooters to head towards the sector of Fort Willem.
As soon as the robbery was confirmed, the KPSM launched its rapid response protocol, deploying several units and proceeding with the road closures in order to secure the area. A major search operation has been set up around Fort Willem and Belair.
During the operation, the police officers found one of the scooters used for the escapethen Two suspects spotted in the Belair district. One of them fled during the night towards Divi, while The second man tried to escape the police by jumping into the sea.Rescued by the officers, he was arrested and taken to Philipsburg stationwhere he is currently being questioned. Several items suspected of having been stolen were seized, as well as the abandoned vehicle and scooter. The search continues for the accomplice(s) who are still at large.
