SAINT BARBARUS 2025: A founding ceremony for STIS | FAXINFO

Last Saturday, the firefighters of Saint-Martin celebrated St. Barbara a highly symbolic ceremony at the Savane barracks marking the first official celebration of the Territorial Fire and Rescue Service (STIS), now fully autonomous. On site, civil and military authorities were gathered around the women and men of the fire to acknowledge their commitment and to appreciate the progress made.
 
The ceremony, presided over by Sub-Prefect Marie-Hildegarde Chauveau, was marked by the reading of a message from the Minister of the Interior. Laurent nuñez, recalling the high standards and courage that characterize the profession. A solemn tribute was also returned to ten firefighters died in the line of duty during the period 2024-2025, in a moment of shared reflection.
Several awards came to recognize their commitment and loyalty to service during this ceremony, masterfully organized by Hubert Fleming, the fire station’s administrative manager, and his team. Promotions to the rank of warrant officer were awarded to Staff Sergeants Hunt and Fleming, just like the allocation of Medals of honor awarded respectively for ten and twenty years of service to Corporal Salina Annerose and Warrant Officer Alfred Hunthighlighting exemplary careers within the rescue center.
In his speech, the Captain Anthony ArnouldThe center director made a point of addressing the staff first. He praised their professionalism and resilience in a year marked by demanding working conditions and profound institutional transformation. With 2.838 interventions recorded in 2025of which nearly 80% is dedicated to emergency medical assistance, he recalled the human reality that lies behind the numbers and the importance of the work of all teams, including support services.
The territorial director of STIS, the Commander Yannick KervoëlenHe mentioned a collective construction still in progress, driven by the desire to move forward together and to to build a civil security service that reflects the territory. The same commitment was affirmed by Steven Cocks, Chairman of the Board, who highlighted the progress made during this transition year and the investments undertaken to strengthen staff, skills and infrastructure (second phase of work to come).
