Senior Civic Hour: one hour per month to build connections | FAXINFO

Launched by AG2R La Mondiale and the network Neighbors in Solidarity, Senior Civic Hour invite them over 50 years of dedicating one hour per month to an act of solidarity towards a neighbor or an isolated personIn Saint-Martin, the initiative is led by Marie-Pierre Bajazet-Jacob, overseas ambassador of the solidarity system.

The principle is simple: everyone can get involved according to their desires and availability, by providing a service, sharing a friendly moment or supporting a local association. The objective is to promote social ties, combat isolation and promote the active role of seniors in societyThis approach is part of a national policy of local solidarity, encouraging municipalities and residents to act together for a better collective life. By offering a flexible framework, it allows those who do not recognize themselves in the classic volunteering to contribute differently, at their own pace.

The Senior Civic Hour is also aimed at family caregivers, often elderly themselves, to offer them occasional support and a moment of respite. It promotes a concrete and human mutual aid, at a time when the aging of the population calls for a rethinking of solidarity.

In Saint-Martin, the system is taking shape around the local associative network, with the desire to create a collective momentum in favor of healthy aging. One hour given per month, whether at theEhpad or in a local association, it's already a lot to maintain fraternity and remind us that at any age, we have something to offer.
