Saturday, more than one about thirty people attended the session followed by a lively debate on violence against women and the realities on the ground.
The feature film is inspired by the Women’s House of Saint-Denis, created in 2016 by the gynecologist Ghada Hatem-Gantzer. This pioneering place accompanied women victims of violence in their reconstruction thanks to a multidisciplinary careFaced with funding difficulties, the founder developed a sponsorship network and partnerships that have enabled the model to spread, today available in 38 structures.
Led in particular by the excellent actress Karin ViardThe narrative avoids any voyeuristic approach. The women are fully the subjects of their own story, in a collective reconstruction journeyWithout caricature or dramatic excess, the work blends intensity and humanitywhile emphasizing the essential role of field professionals and the cross-cutting nature of violence, which affects all social classes.
A debate rooted in local reality
Sibel Aydin, director of the local Women’s Center, presented a A device inspired by Saint-Denis, with its own specificities: multidisciplinary support, link with the hospital, legal and social follow-up, and new areas such as addiction, despite financial constraints which hinder certain actions.
The discussions also emphasized the childcare, now recognized as co-victims of domestic violence, as well as on the difficulties linked to the lack of a residence permit or the cross-border context, particularly in the application of the protection orders.
According to psychologist Farah Viotty, The work reflects “without embellishment, without poetry, the reality on the ground”While Audrey Gil, director of ALEFPA – Le Manteau, sees it as a true reflection of the professionals’ daily lives, caught between commitment and lack of resources: “That’s exactly what we’re experiencing. We’re feeling a a certain guilt as a social worker for not having a solution”.
Beyond the screening, this evening highlighted a reality that is still too often invisible and a largely underfunded struggleIn Saint-Martin, more than one woman who is a victim of violence files a complaint every day. In two years, more than 400 victims have been identified, and two femicides were recorded in 2025.. _Vx
