Le Territorial Olympic and Sports Committee of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin (CTOS SBSM) launched, yesterday in Bellevue, a week of actions dedicated to violence prevention, harassment and sexist and sexual violence (VHSS) in sport. This initiative, carried out in close partnership with the Saint Martin Football League, the main local financial supporter of the action, is part of a national approach public protection and social responsibility.
Around the table, everyone recalled the major issue of the safety of participants, particularly minors. According to Peggy Oulerich, director of CTOS SBSM, Sport must remain “a safe and protective space”capable of preventing abuses and promoting alerts.
Since yesterday, Charline Tyré and Alex Ribera, project managers of the association Colossus with feet of claylead interventions with young people and sports coacheswhether on the field or in schools. A recognized public-benefit association, Colossus with feet of clay has been working since 2013 to prevent sexual violence and hazing in sports and educational settings: “This is about to talk simply about things that can be complicatedthat children and adults have the same level of knowledge about what violence is, how to talk about it, report it, protect themselves, and assert their rights.”
Andy Armongon, vice-president of the CTOS’s Sport, Education and Citizenship Commission, emphasized that Clubs are often places for confidences“Sport is not limited to performance: it is also a educational toolThis action illustrates our mission to protect minors and equip supervisors and clubs.”
For Aristide Conner, president of the Football League, accompanied by its director Ladislas Drzyzdzinski, Child protection is “a team sport”. Training educators, encouraging open dialogue, and supporting organizations are the cornerstones of this collective mobilization, which is intended to become a long-term initiative in the region.
