Suicide prevention: a conference to encourage open discussion in Saint-Martin | FAXINFO

On Tuesday, November 4th, from 17:30 PM to 20:30 PM, the Opal room of the CCISM at Concordia will welcome conference entitled “Together for suicide prevention in Saint-Martin”"Open to all, this meeting aims to raise public awareness of a subject often shrouded in silence that affects the mental health, designated a major national cause for the year 2025.

 

Worn by ALEFPA – The Coat, under the direction of Audrey Gil, and organized in partnership with the Regional Health Agency (ARS), thePublic Mental Health Institution (EPSM) of Guadeloupe as well as the devices 3114 (national suicide prevention hotline) and VigilanSThis initiative is part of a collective approach to prevention and solidarity.

The conference will be structured around the central message “It’s time to talk about it – It’s time to talk – Es hora de hablarlo – I Lè Pou Nou Palé”Participants will attend the screening of video clips produced by young people from ALEFPA, before a round table led by the psychologist Farah ViottyThe event will take place in the presence of the coordinating physician of the partner organizations and local stakeholders. The discussion with the public will continue in a friendly atmosphere.

The event occurred while the data from Public Health France remind us of the scale of the phenomenon: 5,2% of adults in France had suicidal thoughts in 2024, with a higher rate in the overseas territories. In Saint-Martin, 23 hospitalizations Self-inflicted injuries were recorded in 2023. These figures reflect realities that are sometimes invisible. By giving everyone a voice, this evening aims to remind us thatSpeaking out can save lives.Entry, like speech, is free.
