Team St. Maarten Departs for NK U18 and U20 Championships 2026 | The Peoples Tribune

GREAT BAY--The St. Maarten National Athletics Federation is pleased to announce that Team St. Maarten officially departed on Sunday, June 21, 2026, to participate in the NK U18 and U20 Championships 2026 in the Netherlands.

The three-day championship will begin on Friday, June 26, 2026, and will bring together some of the top young athletes from the region and Europe for a high-level competition.

Representing St. Maarten at the championships are athletes Nahjah Wyatte Muñoz and Carlos Brison Cainez, who will compete under the guidance of National Coach Abdule Wattley. Both athletes have worked diligently throughout the season and will proudly carry the St. Maarten flag as they test themselves against strong international competition.

Also traveling with the delegation is Nessiah Wyatte Muñoz, twin brother of Nahjah Wyatte Muñoz, who will attend the championships as a spectator and provide moral support to the team.

The St. Maarten National Athletics Federation extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to the team’s preparation, including the community of St. Maarten, Jru’s Essential Business Solutions, Forge Fitness, and all other supporters who helped make the trip possible.

The Federation also shared words of encouragement for the athletes as they prepare to compete.

“Success is earned through hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Wear the colors of St. Maarten with pride, compete with courage, and remember that you already inspire the next generation by pursuing excellence. Believe in yourselves, trust your preparation, and give your very best. The entire nation stands behind you,” the Federation said.

The St. Maarten National Athletics Federation wishes Coach Wattley, Nahjah Wyatte Muñoz and Carlos Brison Cainez safe travels and the very best of luck throughout the championship.

The Federation said the participation of these young athletes is another proud moment for St. Maarten athletics and a reflection of the talent, discipline and potential present among the country’s youth.
