TRIBUTE: Cathy, a deeply rooted presence | FAXINFO

The Théâtre de la Chapelle paid an intimate and deeply moving tribute to Cathy Carasso, president of the association and an emblematic figure in local theatrical life, who recently passed away. More than twenty relatives, actors, and friends gathered to honor the memory of the woman who, more than twenty years ago, was the first to believe in this place and in those who would bring it to life.
The emotion also gave way to laughter when one of her iconic lines, recalled by Erwan Trotel, resonated in everyone’s memories. A flash of brilliance true to her audacious temperament and humor, she who had faced her illness with absolute discretion and dignity.
Visibly moved, Audrey Duputié spoke of the woman who was the first to reach out to her and encourage her to create their own theater. “I was nobody, but she looked at me like I was the messiah,” she confided, recalling twenty-two years of love, trust, and shared projects, “without her, I probably wouldn’t be here today.” Visionary and passionate, Cathy gave everything, without counting the cost.
At the entrance to the Orient Bay Theatre, a quenette tree was planted in her memory. Cathy loved nature and the sea, and this tree now embodies her presence. Before covering the ground, everyone left a note, an anecdote, or a thank you. A moment of silence followed, both profound and peaceful, where the smiles of memories gradually erased the tears. From now on, Cathy’s quenette tree will remind us that even though the curtain has fallen, the greatest gift we can give her is to raise it again. The show, as she would have wanted, goes on.
