SINT MAARTEN/CURACAO – The Central Bank of Curacao and Sint Maarten (CBCS) over the weekend issued a warning to be alert for fake Naf.100 bills circulating at the moment on the island of Curacao. The CBCS add that these bills are of very good quality and almost undetectable.
CBCS described several identifying factors that consumers should be on alert for in order to recognize whether the bill is a fake or not.
For information in detecting counterfeit money, you can go the CBCS website “Education” section of the website or visit the following link: https://www.centralbank.cw/education/videos/securityfeatures-of-banknotes
CBCS request all consumers to carefully control Naf.100 bills that they come in contact with before they accept the money.
The Central Bank advises the community that whenever you suspect money bills to be suspicious, not to accept the money and to contact the Police.
CBCS says that individuals and/or businesses should not accept counterfeit money. The production of and intentionally circulating counterfeit money can lead to imprisonment of up to nine years.
