Connor Presented at Rotary Sunset General Meeting | SOUALIGA NEWSDAY

SINT MAARTEN (COLE BAY) – As we are in the peak of the hurricane season, the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset invited Desiree Connor, meteorologist, to inform members about hurricane preparedness. Desiree Connor, a meteorologist at the Meteorological department of St. Maarten, as well as social media analyst at Eye4Weather, presented tips on hurricane preparedness, vital information about hurricanes, and the importance of understanding the various warnings and watches associated with storms.

As a means to ensure the members are as prepared as can be, Disaster Chair Antoine Flanders, arranged for Connor to present to the members, who were intrigued and posted various questions about her presentation. “As we are in the peak of the hurricane season, the Disaster Committee saw it fit to invite someone who is dominant in this field and who could educate the club members more on Hurricanes and how to be prepared. Ms. Connor was selected based on her innovative approach on her meteorologist reports as well as weather updates for St. Maarten and neighboring islands. It was a pleasure having her and she did an excellent job”, Disaster Chair Flanders stated.

Connor served as the ideal representative to inform members of hurricane preparedness as she attended Florida State University and majored in Meteorology and minored in Physics. She has presented at conferences and workshops locally, regionally, internationally, and best suited the audience to provide the vital information.

The club would like to thank Ms. Desiree Connor for the presentation, words of advice and tips for hurricane preparedness to the club. The Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset meets every second and fourth Monday of the month at Carl N Sons Unique Inn and Conference Facilities in Colebay at 7:30pm.
