SINT MAARTEN (POND ISLAND) – On Monday December 2nd, 2019, the Minister of Justice, the Honorable Egbert Jurendy Doran officially received the sad news of the passing of officer Cernick Jan Lionel Carolina, a press statement from the Cabinet of Minister of Justice stated on Tuesday.
“Officer Carolina was very dedicated to his duty, as he served for many years in various capacities in the Justice Ministry of St. Maarten, carrying out functions at the Immigration department, Central Post Detective, Head of the Police department, and Senior Support Officer at the Philipsburg Police Station.
“With heartfelt sympathy, the Minister together with the entire Ministry of Justice, wishes to extend deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and to the entire population of Sint Maarten, with the passing of the late Officer Carolina. He wishes the family much strength and courage as they face the loss of their loved one and assures them that he stands with them during this trying time of sadness.
“During the coming days the Minister and his staff will be coordinating closely with the Sint Maarten Police Force and the Carolina family, in preparations for the memorial service of Officer Carolina which will be announced at a later date. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
