SINT MAARTEN (SIMPSON BAY-AIRPORT) - Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) continues to demonstrate its commitment to the community through its Corporate Social Responsibility program, with a special focus on supporting the youth of St. Maarten.

As students across the island returned to school this week, PJIA joined forces with the RISE Foundation and its Back-to-School Project to help provide children with essential school supplies for the new academic year. Through the initiative, PJIA contributed 300 new pencil cases, while airport partners WINIAR and Versant Accountants & Consultants generously sponsored an additional 50 beautifully packed pencil cases filled with school supplies.

The contribution from WINAIR and Versant came with an especially personal touch. Versant coordinated the selection and transportation of the school supplies to St. Maarten, ensuring they arrived in time for the start of the school year. Upon learning of the initiative, Mr. Roberto Gibbs of WINAIR immediately committed to sponsoring the supplies, in special recognition of WINAIR’s 65th anniversary of service to our islands. Mrs. Boyce-Gittens mentioned:

“There is always excitement in the air as the children of our island prepare to go back to school. We believe that every child, regardless of financial status, family size, or the school they attend, deserves to feel special as they head back to the classroom for a new year of adventure and learning.”

Distribution of the school materials began this week in collaboration with the RISE Foundation, helping ensure the supplies reach children and families within the community. PJIA Chief Executive Officer Mr. Cleaver emphasized that investment in young people remains a critical part of the airport's responsibility to the island we serve. Mr. Cleaver mentioned:

“Support for our children is at the core of our Corporate Social Responsibility commitment. Something as simple as starting the school year with new supplies can bring excitement and confidence and we are pleased to work alongside partners like WINAIR, Versant and the RISE Foundation to make this possible.”

PJIA remains committed to developing meaningful community partnerships and initiatives that create a positive and lasting impact across St. Maarten, with the island's youth continuing to be a key focus of our Corporate Social Responsibility efforts.
