SINT MAARTEN (PHILIPSBURG) – The Positive Foundation happily accepted a surprised contribution of US$600 from the SXM Cap Project and Galaxy Fashions, the Positive Foundation President, Shelly Alphonso announced.
The funds were presented by Vashi Mansukhani of Galaxy Fashions located on the Emmaplein in Philipsburg and Jane Mussard and David Mauberret of SXM Cap Project to the foundation. The donated funds resulted from the sale of 120 breast cancer awareness special edition caps, designed by SXM Cap Project. The idea for this special edition came for Vashi Mansukhani of Galaxy Fashions one of the retailers for the SXM Cap Project product.
The SXM Cap Project is an initiative driven by the desire to combine entrepreneurship and social responsibility. After the last hurricane Irma, Jane and David started a project that would have a direct and visible impact for the whole island. The concept of sell caps with part of the proceeds being donated to plant trees around the island was born. “The cap was for us the ideal product. It is the perfect souvenir gift and a fashion accessory” said David.
The caps are being sold island wide in shops including: –
Galaxy Fashion in Philipsburg,
Beach Party in Marina Royale
Bazar Du Majestic and Shine in the West Indies Mall
Beach Life in Orient Bay
Quiksilver in Hope Estate
And Voila in Grandcase.
The SXM Cap Project has planted trees on Friar Bay and Mullet Bay Beach in March and May 2019.
The Positive Foundation is grateful for the contribution and will ensure that the funds will be used to intensify the early detection messaging, of Feel it, Find It, Fight it, which result the lives being saved.
