PSVE Continues Virtual School. Administrative Office Moved Online. Campus to be Fumigated | SOUALIGA NEWSDAY

SINT MAARTEN (ST. PETERS) – The St. Maarten Academy PSVE began the 2020-2021 school year with online instruction on August 17th, 2020, using Zoom – for contact hours, Google Classroom for non-contact hours and Quickschools PSVE for tracking and reporting.  Teachers and students have been engaging online for all subjects at all levels.

In the meantime, within the broader Academy family, which includes both the Academic and PSVE campuses, one staff member has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.  In an update to staff of both campuses by their respective school managers, it was announced that one valued employee was tested positive for the corona-virus, resulting in the closure of all on-campus Administrative services for both campuses as of August 18th.  Administrative services are now available remotely, until further notice.

Consequently, the school board, the Foundation for Academic and Vocation Education (FAVE) has taken the decision to completely fumigate both campuses tomorrow Friday August 21, 2020.  This means that since students and teachers are working virtually, those teachers who facilitate their virtual classes on campus will not be able to do so on Friday August 21, given the fumigation exercise on both campuses.  It is also the intention that all COVID-19 protocols are strictly enforced at both campuses.

The Board and management commend the staff member for their care and concern of colleagues on both campuses, by sharing their test results for COVID-19. The Board and management hope and pray that the staff member recovers speedily and completely and that all employees and stakeholders take the necessary precautionary measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
