SOG & First Response support “Stop School Fights” fundraiser on Saturday | SOUALIGA NEWSDAY

SINT MAARTEN (POND ISLAND) – President of the Foundation for Government Buildings (SOG) and former MPC student Kurt Ruan announced on behalf of the Board of SOG on Tuesday December 10th that SOG will make the Festival Village available for the Stop School Fights – Keep a Cool Head School Party on December 14th, a fundraiser for the solar power climate control project at MPC.

First Response owner and director Christian Lont will provide a security guard team of professionals to secure the students’ safety during the School Party. The St. Maarten Police Force will also be present during the event to promote their awareness campaign to stop school fights: “See something? Say something! Share something” to provide the Police Force with information on school fights.

Safety for all is what the organizational committee of the upcoming event had in mind when approaching SOG, First Response and the Police Force. Organizer and Keep a Cool Head project manager Femke Neunzig says, “This Party is organized for and by our students to improve their learning environment. This Saturday is all about having fun while raising funds for the best cause on this island: the education of our youth. So, buy your ticket for this amazing night now!”.

Tickets are sold at Van Dorp, Adolphus, Sundial and MPC or at the door that opens at 7PM.

MPC students and teachers are busy raising another USD 55,000 to be added to the USD 110,000 that Baker Tilly is raising in the Adopt a Classroom – Alumni Program. The total budget for the project thus amounts to USD 165,000 which will bring solar-powered AC’s to all the MPC classrooms.

Tickets are sold for USD 15 and the party will host 22 local bands and DJ’s and even a guest performance by former MPC students Michael Maidwell and Jacob Streefkerk of Orange Grove. Although the night is about having fun and raising funds, the students will also be made aware of the impact of school bullying and fights.
