UPDATED: French re-enforcements and supplies arrive | SOUALIGA NEWSDAY

SAINT-MARTIN (MARIGOT) – A French Naval Vessel Dumont d’ Urville left Guadeloupe on Saturday for Saint-Martin and arrived in the evening hours. On Sunday morning vehicles and other supplies were offloaded from the vessel at Galisbay.  Gendarmarie re-enforcements comprising of 16 officers, also came in with the vessel on Saturday. 

According to information provided by the Prefecture of Saint-Barths and Saint-Martin, the vessel brought in medical reinforcements from the Health Reserve that includes a logistic support mission comprising of Gendarmes and equipment.

The Dumont d’ Urville is one of four ships of the d’Entrecasteaux-class multi-mission ship and are mainly based in France’s overseas territories.

These types of vessels are designed to carry out overseas missions of sovereignty, law enforcement and logistics support.

The vessels homeport is Fort-de-France, Martinique.

It is 65-meters in length and has a crew of 20.
