NIA host conference in collaboration with Armell Six

Philipsburg — National Institute of Arts in collaboration with Armelle Six to host “How to live again, after the worst has occurred” Conference on Wednesday January 25, 2018.

As part of the NIA’s ART HEALS program, the St. Maarten community is invited to attend this healing conference, brought about as an initiative by St. Martin resident Marie Lecleve, who at the time of Hurricane IRMA was attending Armelle Six Training workshop on “Movement of Life” in Quebec Canada.

Since her return, Marie noticed that the post Hurricane Irma trauma is still very present on the Island. “The violence of the psychological aftermath is still there” says Ms. Lecleve.

Ms. Lecleve reached out to Armelle Six and together launched a project to offer support to affected people in the post traumatic phase.

The Conference will deal with answering the question “How to live again after the worse occurred”.

Armelle, herself a survivor of overcoming profound loss in her life is able to share with others the process of her healing journey.

After the brutal death of her son, in April 2001, “my life went upside down” says Ms. Armelle. She continued to add that “facing the unexpected, the intensity of the event and the void, suddenly made me look inwards.” Ms. Armelle’s healing process brought her through a rebirth within herself and a discovery of who she is at her core and what life is.

Propelled by the aim is to teach the art of happiness and self-listening, Ms. Armelle Six has been touring the world sharing her process through her Lectures and Dance Workshop entitled, “Movement for Life” offering strength and support to communities in need.

Ms. Armelle will be on St. Maarten from January 23 to January 31. The conference is open to all, and will take place Wednesday January 25 at 7:30pm at the National Institute of Arts located at the John Larmonie Center in Philipsburg. This will be followed by a “Movement for Life” dance workshop and a spontaneous dance event. For more information, please contact NIA at 1-721-523-5066 or 1-721-524-0441 or 011-590-690-47-89-77.
