PHILIPSBURG:--- Dreams came true for many less fortunate families in the month of December when the St. Maarten Alpha Leo Club collected non-perishables for families in St. Maarten.
After many months of preparation, teamwork and great support from the community, the Alpha LEO Club successfully collected enough non-perishable goods to put together a total of 150 baskets that were distributed to the families during the Christmas season bringing joy and many smiles. T’is the Season is one of the club’s signature projects, that has been going on for the past 18 years at the various supermarkets. Every year we always tell ourselves we would like to reach 100 baskets. This year the club surpassed the 100 baskets with a total of 150 baskets that were made and distributed to many families around the island.
Additionally, we would like to give thanks to the Staff of Telem Group of companies who have done a tremendous job also collecting nonperishable goods from all the staff, and presented this to the club. T’is the Season is a project that gives us as a people, for a brief moment the opportunity to take action outside of ourselves in the hopes of bringing joy and relief to another person. The project connects people young and old to help touch the lives of many families in need.
On Sunday, December 16th2018 we all came together as youngsters placed basket in pickups and made our rounds to the family homes. We thank the shoppers and the supermarkets for always working with us and contributing to something that is so beautiful. We hope that this project inspires others to perform acts of kindness and service in their community.
As LEOs we take pride in being part of this nonprofit organization that works hard to make such a difference.
