PHILIPSBURG:— The Court of Appeal sentenced three of the four suspects today in the “Masbangu-case”
The Masbangu-case is the investigation involving buying and selling of votes on behalf of the United People’s (UP) party during the September 17, 2010, election.
The suspects, R.C.H.J., C.J.L.C. and A.R.W.M. were suspected by the Public Prosecutor’s Office Sint Maarten of selling their votes and R.H. suspected of buying the votes (mediating in the sale).
The Court of First Instance declared on September 14th. all suspects free of all accusations. R.H. (1953), R.C.H.J. (1951) and A.R.W.M. (1970) were all three sentenced today however in a new ruling to 3 months jail, 2 years probation and a fine of 300 guilders.
C.J.L.C. (1969) was cleared today of all accusations.
