Armed and Attempted Armed Robberies committed.

PHILIPSBURG:— The Special Unit Robbery Detectives are presently investigating the armed robber of a couple which took place on the Boardwalk on Friday, February 22nd at approximately 10.30 p.m. According to the report the couple identified with initials C.S.R. and G.H. were on their way home when they were suddenly attacked by two unknown young men who struck and ill-treated both victims by striking them with an unknown object and taking their wallets and shoulder bag containing items such as cash, cellular telephone, checkbooks, keys and passports. After committing the act the suspects fled the scene on foot towards Front Street. As a result of the both victims suffered minor injuries. They were treated by the paramedics on the scene.

Attempted armed robbery

The Special Robbery Unit Detectives are investigating an attempted armed robbery of a male victim which took place on February 25th at approximately 10.00 p.m. on the Oyster Bay road close to Princess Heights. According to the victim, he was attacked by four men on two scooters while riding towards Princess Heights who threatened him with a firearm and tried to take his scooter from him. The police were immediately informed of the situation and a description of the suspects and scooters they were riding was also given. All patrols on the street at the time were informed of what had taken place and started a search to locate the suspects in this case.
Shortly after a patrol in the Sucker garden area saw two scooters on which four men were riding fitting the description of the suspects in question. The suspects increased their speed and starting fleeing when they noticed the police intended to stop them. The patrol started to chase the scooters at which time one rider lost controls of the scooter and fell to the ground. Both suspects got up and took off running through the area, leaving the scooter behind, while the other two suspects on the other scooter continued fleeing from the area. Shortly after the two suspects on foot were caught and arrested. These two suspects identified with initials D.M.A. and A.M.R. were taken to the Police head Quarters and placed into custody. The scooter was confiscated as evidence for further investigation.
