PORT ST. MAARTEN:--- Port St. Maarten would like to present the December month cruise ship call schedule as information for the community and for business establishment planning purposes. There will be two ships in port on Christmas day December 25.
Cruise ships will be in port on the following days: December 4, 5, 8, 17, 19, 25, 26, 27, 29, and 31. This is the latest cruise ship call information that the port has at this point in time as cruise lines continue to update their itineraries.
Royal Caribbean International (RCI) Grandeur of the Seas will be the first RCI cruise ship to rediscover the marquee destination on December 17.
The RCI ships and dates are as follows: Independence of the Seas, December 25 and 29; Jewel of the Seas, December 26; Freedom of the Seas, December 27; and Adventure of the Seas, December 31.
Port St. Maarten representatives have had various discussions with cruise line representatives over the past months with regard to the readiness of the destination to receive cruise passengers and being able to provide the unique rediscover destination experience.
“Much has been accomplished to get the destination ready. The business community that caters to the cruise sector has been doing a tremendous job in getting ready, and we encourage the others to come online as soon as possible. The more businesses that are back up and running and providing vital hospitality services to the cruise sector will contribute to additional cruise lines adding the destination to their itinerary for the 2017/2018 cruise season #SXMStrong.
“This is an opportunity to present to the cruise lines how committed we are in assuring great and memorable experiences to passengers as we continue to recover in this post-hurricane Irma period.
“Port St. Maarten will continue communicating with cruise lines and keeping them abreast of destination recovery and product upgrade news. We commend the community and private sector for their efforts thus far. The onus is on us to continue driving and pushing forward as we restore our premier port of call status in the Northeastern Caribbean #SXMStrong,” Port St. Maarten Management said on Tuesday.
