Stained cop under police guard as he seeks further medical treatment.
PHILIPSBURG:— Detective Jerry Gerardus was transported to the Louis Constant Fleming Hospital (LCF) on Saturday morning for further medial evaluation after fallen ill while in detention at the Philipsburg Police holding cell.
Gerardus has been in police custody since June 3rd 2018 as investigators continue their investigations in the Whale investigation. He is suspected of bribery, forgery, and breach of confidentiality.
Spokesman for the Prosecutor’s Office Norman Serphos said that Gerardus was transported to the St. Maarten Medical Center on Friday evening based on a advice from his doctor. On Saturday he was transported to LCF for further medical evaluation.
Suspect J.G. (42) was transported on Friday evening to the hospital in Philipsburg. This on advice by his doctor. This morning he was transported for further medical investigation to the hospital on the French side of Sint Maarten.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office confirms that he was visited earlier this week by the Probation Services and his doctor. Serphos also stated that the suspect was seen by a doctor earlier in the week while in police detention
J.G. is at this moment a suspect in the Whale-investigation suspected of bribery, forgery, and breach of confidentiality. The suspect remains in pre-trial detention. On Monday the Judge of Instruction granted the Prosecution their request to continue the detention of the suspect for another 60 days.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office, due to confidentiality, will not comment on his medical condition.
