Economy Department Collaborates on Intellectual Property workshop.

ipworkshop29062017PHILIPSBURG:— In the continued effort of delivering assistance to SMEs, the Department of Economy, Transport, and Telecommunication (ETT) has once again collaborated with the COSME Program in delivering a successful two-day workshop on the importance of Intellectual Property to it stakeholders on June 22 & 23. Other key stakeholders making this workshop a success were the Bureau Intellectual Property (BIP) and the Foundation INFOBIZZ as coordinators.

The aim and objective of this workshop were to gain the knowledge of how to register intellectual property and an understanding of its importance. Additionally, the workshop was centered on understanding the economic benefits of adequately incorporating intellectual property in one’s business. During the workshop, participants were also taught about the valuation of intellectual property, its inclusion on financial statements and advantages of having an IP strategy.
More than 20 entrepreneurs completed this intellectual property workshop and received certificates of participation. At the end of the workshop, a number of participants expressed gratitude to the efforts of the Ministry and its collaboration with the COSME Program towards their capacity building and strengthening.
