~ Korps Chef aware of Police Officers working second jobs and has ordered internal investigation~

PHILIPSBURG:— The police officer that shot and killed a robber early Wednesday morning that KPSM said was an off duty officer turned out to be an police officer that has been working at Jump Up Casino during his free time
Sources identified the officer as Gilbert Cecelia, whom they said was involved in a previous shooting incident.
In an invited comment Chief of Police Carl John said that he cannot comment on the investigation that is currently being done by the Landsrecherche. John said he cannot say if the officer who shot the robber was working at the time of the shooting.
John further explained that over the past weeks he was informed by various sources that a group of his officers have been working during their free time at various establishments. He said when he got that information he asked the head of the internal affairs department to conduct an investigation and to submit a report to him on the findings.
The Police Chief made clear that when that report becomes available he will share the findings with the media because he believes in transparency within the Police Force.
While the officer in question would have his own problems to deal with if it is proven that he was working outside of his government job he was indeed helpful to the persons that were inside the casino when the robbers invaded during the early morning hours on Wednesday.

Recently the island have been plagued with armed robberies some of which left victims seriously injured. On Tuesday a shopper was seriously injured by a drug addict who inflicted several stab wounds on his victim in the Marigot.
