EXCLUSIVE: Will SMCP MP Peterson donate his July salary for charity?

~ Questions are now being raised as why NA Leader Silveria Jacobs gave UD the Quorum on Tuesday knowing the Government will lose about NAF 40,000. 00 in salaries.~

PHILIPBURG:— Questions are now being raised by several groups of persons about the actions of the National Alliance leader MP Silveria Jacobs and MP Iron Ardwell who gave the UD a quorum to validate their documents in order for them to become legitimate MP’s as of June 3rd, 2018, knowing that the two Members of Parliament will be paid a full month salary during the recess.
According to information SMN News gathered states that the opposition parties namely the National Alliance (NA) and the United St. Maarten Party (USP) felt that the two incoming members namely Claude Peterson and Tamara Leonard could have waited until after the recess before being sworn in especially knowing that St. Maarten is in a financial predicament post Irma.
Sources say that while several political supporters of the UD have been attacking the NA and the USP they did not do the calculations on the salaries these two persons who claim they have the country’s best interest at heart would want to receive almost NAF.20.000.00 each for the month of July while Parliament is in recess.
Critical statements are being made against the leader of the National Alliance Silveria Jacobs who was fully aware that giving the UD/ SMCP government a quorum on Tuesday would only dig a deeper hole in the government coffers.
Efforts made to reach MP Jacobs by telephone for a comment as proved futile up to the time this article was published.
