PHILIPSBURG:--- HalleluYah Assembly of Messianic Believers conducted a Kingdom Business Summer Program with its Junior class. Five children ages 3 to 10 years old received small investments to start their own businesses for two weeks. At the end of the two weeks, the group of children returned the investment and reported profits ranging from five to thirty-two times their initial funds.
The children engaged in selling arts and crafts, cupcakes, ice-cream, popcorn, and drinks. With the guidance and assistance of their parents, the mini-entrepreneurs realized their successes. The lessons learnt covered budgeting, cost-pricing, customer service, marketing and self-confidence. Nine-year-old, Gelisa Peynado of Miss Amy’s Delightful Treats summarized her experience by stating, “I learnt that if you try to do your best, you can be happy with your results, and keep on doing what you love.”
The young business people were met with positive support from the community, including a donation from Kooyman for a new cooler to Ethan Richardson of Ethan’s Ice Teas. The other business projects were named Antonio’s Express by Geovanni Peynado, Jayvony’s Art & Crafts Workshop by Jayvony Ranglin, Jamari’s Natural Ice Pops by Jamari Ranglin-Carty.
These young entrepreneurs will be highlighting their skills at the summer event, Koop Avond on Thursday, July 26 on Front Street. They are excited to continue with their enterprises, bearing the Scripture, Deuteronomy chapter 28 verse 13 as their motto.
