PHILIPSBURG:— The Minister of Justice Rafael Boasman called on the community of St. Maarten to exercise precaution as they begin their Easter and Carnival celebrations. His main message to the people was to ensure that they do not drink and drive. The Minister also called on the people of St. Maarten to work and cooperate with the police whose presence will be all over the island. He asked that residents follow the requests and instructions given by the police.
On other related matters, the Minister said that the situation at the prison has calmed down and things are getting back to normal. Asked if he is looking for candidates to fill the positions on the management level of the prison since those persons were supposedly there for three months, Minister Boasman said that there is no timeline on which the two persons that are currently managing the prison would be there for but they have three months to get things in order including urgent repairs done within 3-months time.
