PHILIPSBURG:— On March 9th & 10th, the Mental Health Foundation (MHF) presents Love & Semicolon (Friday, March 9th at 7 pm), Green Thumbs Project (Saturday, March 10th at 9am), and Beautifying M.H.F. (Saturday at 12 pm) through SXM DOET. Each event will be taking place at M.H.F which is located on Leopard Road #1 in Cay Hill.
“Love & Semicolon” is an art project created to raise awareness for suicide. In this art workshop, we’ll be painting semicolon to represent the choice of continuing life even when one wanted to end it. Everyone will be creating their own artistic vision, so volunteers are needed to help guide the creativity and give confidence. During this workshop, attendees will also be able to learn about the warning signs of suicide, be given tips on how to help prevent it, and so much more.
The second project is the “Green Thumbs Project”. In this event volunteers are needed to help create a garden will be created for the clients in Faraja and give them an inviting scenery that they’d look forward to whenever they arrive at MHF. And for “Beautifying M.H.F.” volunteers are needed to repaint the building and painting a mural. The clients of Faraja are participating in a Mural Competition to design the drawing that will be painted on the wall. After the best drawing is chosen, we’ll need your help to recreate the drawing as a mural in front of Faraja.
The Mental Health Foundation encourages the community to participate and invites their friends and family to tag along. Persons interested can register on the SXM DOET website, www.sxmdoet.com
