CASTRIES, St. Lucia:---The Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC) will host its 2018 Occupational Health & Safety & Disaster Management Seminar on March 11-14 in Jamaica under the theme: “Safety by Design with Disaster in Mind”. The Seminar is co-hosted with the Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS) and sponsored by Emera (Caribbean) Incorporated (EC).
CARILEC is delighted to once more collaborate with EC; a long-time advocate of occupational health and safety, and a company, which, according to Mr. Peter Williams, Managing Director, believes that safety and disaster management must be an integral part of every job; that planning, equipment, and appropriate personal behaviour will result in a safe and incident-free workplace. EC continues to support CARILEC’s safety culture.
Established in 1989, CARILEC continues to promote the highest standards in health and safety to eliminate workplace injury and illness and remains committed to building capacities and providing training in occupational health and safety throughout the Caribbean and Latin America based on the principle that everyone shares the responsibility for health and safety at work.
The Seminar will promote a proactive approach to health and safety in the workplace. It will highlight the latest thinking, innovation, and research, and examine how the workplace can be purposefully designed so that employees are safe. It will also feature occupational health and safety experts and energy leaders who will share ideas, experiences, skills and knowledge to improve the lives of employees and provide participants with an opportunity to network with their peers.
