PHILIPSBURG:--- Oranje School will be hosting the 2018 Annual Public Schools St. Maarten’s Day Unity Parade. For this event students, staff, parents and invited guest will be parading through the streets of Philipsburg.
The parade is scheduled for Friday, November 9th, 2018 at 10.15 a.m. commencing at the Great Bay Sports Auditorium. The route is as follows: Great Bay sports auditorium – up Pondfill - turn right at GEBE-up Schoolsteeg - turn left onto Front street- turn left onto W.G. Buncamper Road - turn left onto Pondfill and then turn right to the festival village.
Participants will be wearing St. Maarten’s day t-shirt and jeans, with some wearing costumes depicting this year’s theme: “St. Maarten’s Icons of the Arts”. The icons are Louie Laviest, Lasana Sekou, Clara Reyes, Max Phelipa, Urmain Youmay Dormoy, Sir Reginald Bobby Vlaun, and Ruby Bute.
Come out and view the students of the various public schools on the island as they celebrate St. Maarten’s Day.
