Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Main Contributor in the recovery of the Museum of Sint Maarten.

Museum scheduled to open on April 16th, 2018

Hurricane Irma dealt a major blow to the Sint Maarten Museum located on Frontstreet. Part of the roof caved in and many precious artifacts and rare books and material were beyond salvageable, a disheartening sight.

The board & volunteers worked hard on recovering what it could and then the reconstruction had to begin.
Thanks to the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Caribisch Gebied, a generous contribution was granted to the museum to repair the interior of the building, painting of walls & ceiling, refurbishing of floors & replacement of light fixtures. The Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds also assisted the museum in purchasing necessary items to safeguard our precious heritage further, those items included a scanner, vacuum & filters, plastic containers & air conditioning units, replacement of display cabinets & replacement of lost books.
Based on the abovementioned, the board of the Sint Maarten National Heritage Foundation & Museum hereby wishes to thank its main contributor in the recovery process, the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds. Without you, we could not have restored our precious museum and because of you we are happy to announce that the museum is scheduled to open on April 16th, 2018!
Come out one and all and indulge in our Sint Maarten heritage!
