PHILIPSBURG:— The fire department had to evacuate workers from the Census and Receivers Office on Wednesday morning due to a strong unknown stench in the building.
Several of the employees and fire department workers were seen around the Census office which was closed off in order for the fire department to locate the stench and the cause of it.
Minister of Finance Richard Gibson Sr told reporters at the Council of Ministers press briefing that the stench was from an unknown origin and the cause of it was also not known. He said the fire department was busy testing and looking for the stench during the morning hours and it is expected that the workers of the Census Office and Receivers Office would return to work after lunch on Wednesday.
