PHILIPSBURG:— On January 28th, the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset awarded nine professionals for their outstanding contributions to the community through their vocation and for exemplifying the Rotary ideal of “Service Above Self.”
During the club’s general meeting, President Jaida Nisbett presented Rotary Vocational Excellence Awards to Dr. Damien Wilson, Medical Doctor in the Health Care category; Mr. Ras Mosera, local entrepreneur and artist, in the Arts category; Captain Dino Arrundell, pilot at WINAIR in the Aviation category; Mr. Alexander Gumbs, Business Development and Marketing Manager at the Port of St. Maarten in the Hospitality & Tourism category; Officer Ruminni Rogers, officer of the KPSM in the Law Enforcement category; Mr. Euriel Douglas, Carpenter and Mason in the Technical Vocation category; Mr. Dimitri Beauperthuy, Athletic Director at the LU School in the Athletics / Sports category; Mr. Garth Steyn & Ms. Lorraine Talmi, owners of Kidz at Sea Foundation in the Maritime category; and Ms. Joselyne Arnell, Children’s Author in the written Arts category.
The Rotary Vocational Excellence Award aims to recognize outstanding achievements in Vocational Excellence and to honor individuals in the community for their outstanding contributions to the community through their respective vocations. It is also aimed to inspire members of the community, specifically the youth, to strive for Vocational Excellence for the benefit of their future careers and the island.
“Vocational Service is the way Rotary fosters and supports the application of the ideal of service in the pursuit of all vocations. Inherent in the Vocational Service ideals are: Adherence to, and promotion of, the highest ethical standards in all occupations, including faithfulness and fidelity to employers, employees, and associates, fair treatment of them and of competitors, the public, and all those with whom one has any business or professional relationships. The contribution of one’s vocational talents to the problems and needs of society,” President Jaida Nisbett stated.
The members of the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset would like to congratulate all recipients for their selfless dedication and encourage the general public to make a valuable contribution to a better society through their daily activities in business or their chosen profession.
