Safe Drinking Water from GEBE Network in Certain Areas.

GEBE has been working diligently in close consultation with the Inspectorate VSA to provide potable water after the passing of hurricane Irma, although its drinking water distribution network has suffered considerable damage in many areas.
As of today, Monday, September 25th, 2017, the water from GEBE’s distribution network in the following areas is safe to drink although one might experience a slight harmless chlorine odor or taste.

West of Cay Hill:
Cupecoy, Low Lands, MAHO Reef, Beacon Hill, Simpson Bay, Pelican Key, Cay Bay, Cole Bay, and Indigo Bay.

East of Cay Hill:
Cay Hill, Bel Air, Little Bay, Mary’s Fancy, Saunders, St. John’s, Cul de Sac, Betty’s Estate, Ebenezer, St. Peters, Sth. Reward and Fort William.
Brownish water contains sediment (rust, dust, chalky residue) from pipes and needs to be filtered through a readily available sediment filter.
In all other easterly areas up to Oyster Pond the water still needs to be boiled until further notice.
Meanwhile, potable water will be distributed by means of water trucks and through bottled water. It is the intention to have several potable water tanks with several taps stationed in different locations where one can obtain drinking water during day time by the end of this week. These locations will be announced soon.
