MARIGOT:—Toastmaster Shirma France did it again by winning the Area Speech contest on March 10th which enabled her to compete on the Territorial level.
Toastmaster Shirma France representing the Saint-Martin Evolution Toastmasters Club won International Territorial Speech contest held on April 7, 2017 at the St Maarten Academy. The audience was able to relate to her speech entitled “Culture Shock” where she highlighted the many differences encountered when she relocated to St Maarten. Her competitor Toastmaster Patricia Jardine presentation was also compelling as she outline her “Determination” in many areas of her life. She landed her very first job through sheer determination.
Toastmaster Melissa Grinuva and Sharika Ramsey were the competitors for the Table Topics contest. Both ladies had two minutes to “think on their feet” base on the topic “The Dump is on Fire”. Both touched on important points such as to avoid the Philipsburg area when the dump is burning, the wearing of mask if you have allergies, and the need for Government to look into relocating the dump. Toastmaster Melissa Grinuva was the victor for this Contest.
Toastmaster Shirma France and Melissa Grinuva will both represent St Maarten/Saint Martin at the District International Speech Contest in Barbados during the annual Toastmasters Conference on May 19-20, 2017. Should Toastmaster Shirma France be victorious she will go on to represent District 81 at the International speech contest at the International Toastmasters Convention in Canada in August 2017.
The Saint Martin Evolution Toastmasters Club would like extend kudos to all who participated at this event, and congratulate the winners and wish them much success in Barbados.
