PHILIPSBURG:--- The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) is including the general public in its preparation for Carnival 2019 by opening an ideas period for Carnival’s 50th Anniversary. The foundation also announced that the Carnival 50 logo and schedule will be launched soon.
Carnival 2019, or “Carnival 50” as the foundation is calling it, “requires very early preparation considering the scale that the event will be,” the foundation said. “We have already started our preparations, but Carnival is a people’s festival. And as such the people should at least be able to offer some input in the golden anniversary of Carnival.”
The SCDF has opened an ideas period from Sunday, June 10, 2018 until June 30, 2018. The foundation explained that submission of an idea does not mean it would automatically be included in the way the person who submitted it intended, but it could be incorporated in some form a fashion.
“This is a voluntary effort for Carnival. There is no prize or such attached. We simply want to involve the public. We are almost ready to launch the special logo for Carnival 50 as well as the schedule for the entire Carnival season. Before we get to that point (launching of the schedule) we would like to hear from you,” the foundation said.
