PHILIPSBURG:— Two temporary employees of Motorworld were robbed at gunpoint Monday night on the road leading Acqua Marine.
According to information provided to SMN News by Motorworld, the two persons came in from Colombia to install furniture for Motorworld new showroom. The company accommodated the two foreign workers at Acqua Marine for the duration of their stay on St. Maarten. The spokesperson for the company said as the two visiting workers were heading to their apartment two men who parked their vehicle in the bushy area of the lonely road leading to Acqua Marine drove across the road as the victim’s vehicle approached, thus forcing the visitors to stop their vehicle. At that point, two men armed with guns approached the male and female victim and ordered them out of the vehicle a Hyundai Accent with license plate 9248 AAB and R-285 The gunmen then robbed the two persons of their personal items and also drove away with the vehicles belonging to Motorworld. Persons are warned to take absolute precaution when driving to Acqua Marine as the main road leading to the hotel is deserted and bushy.
The two persons are scheduled to leave St. Maarten today (Tuesday, May 9th). Motorworld representative Daniel Singh told SMN News that one of the persons lost their passport during the daring gunpoint robbery.
The Special Unit Robbery is presently investigating an armed robbery which took place on Monday, May 8th at approximately 11.30 p.m. in the vicinity of Platinum Night Club in Maho. On the scene, the South American victims stated that they were suddenly attacked two unknown men armed with handguns. These men robbed them of the personal belongings such as cellular telephone, bank cards, passports, camera along with some tools and two rented cars with license plate 4867 AAB and R-285. The female victim also stated that she suffered some bruises as a result of the force that was used during the robbery.
