Rotary Club hosts Christmas Fun Day

Rotarians at the Christmas Fun Day.

ANGUILLA–The Rotary Club treated Anguilla’s primary schools and pre-schools to a fun-filled afternoon at the Agricultural Grounds on Tuesday, December 19, with the sole intention of ending the school semester with a blast and getting rid of the hurricane blues. Hundreds of students, identified by their school’s brightly coloured shirts, entered the park following behind the Anguilla Police band, smiling and singing to the tunes of holiday songs being played by the band.

Students, teachers and parents were welcomed by the Club’s president Jacquie Ruan, who thanked all contributors for their support, especially the teachers present as December 19 is a Government holiday in Anguilla. Jacquie made special mention of three anonymous donors by first name only Jim, Deb and Emily who love Anguilla, support the Rotary Club and wanted to do something special for the children of Anguilla during this post-Hurricane Irma holiday season. Due to their generosity, each family was given either frozen ham or turkey to take home at the end of the day.

The afternoon offered many fun-filled activities, food and drinks, and Santa and his elves handing out gifts to all the children. The smiles and joyous shrieks of the children as they bounced and ran from one activity to another confirmed that this was indeed a holiday event appreciated by all.
