MIAMI--(COCI) is strengthening its international business connections as President Tamara Leonard expands engagement with key business organizations in Miami, creating new opportunities for trade, investment and collaboration between St. Maarten and South Florida.
The Miami-Dade County International Trade Consortium (ITC) recently recognized Leonard’s growing role in strengthening Caribbean business ties, congratulating her on joining the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and highlighting her representation of the English-speaking countries of the Dutch Caribbean.
“We also extend our congratulations to Tamara Leonard, President of the Saint Martin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on joining the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. We look forward to her representing the English-speaking countries of the Dutch Caribbean and welcoming a delegation to Miami this November,” the Miami-Dade County International Trade Consortium stated.
The recognition came following the ITC’s participation in the International Business Committee meeting of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, where discussions focused on international trade and investment initiatives, including foreign trade zones, upcoming programming with PortMiami and the Miami Finance Forum, as well as future inbound and outbound trade missions.
Leonard’s engagement with Miami’s business community forms part of broader efforts by COCI to position St. Maarten businesses for international opportunities and create stronger connections with markets beyond the region.
The upcoming Miami delegation visit in November represents one of the key initiatives being advanced through these partnerships. The trade mission is expected to connect businesses from St. Maarten and the wider Dutch Caribbean with South Florida’s business ecosystem, allowing entrepreneurs to explore new partnerships, market opportunities and international expansion strategies.
Through continued collaboration with organizations such as the Miami-Dade County International Trade Consortium and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, COCI aims to provide local businesses with greater exposure to international networks while strengthening St. Maarten’s position as a regional business hub.
The engagement also builds on COCI’s ongoing work to expand trade and investment opportunities through initiatives such as the “Island Roots to Global Routes” Trade Mission, which brings together businesses and chambers from across the Caribbean to explore opportunities in Miami.
For St. Maarten entrepreneurs, access to international networks can provide valuable opportunities for business growth, partnerships and knowledge exchange. COCI continues to focus on creating platforms that allow local companies to connect with global markets while showcasing the capabilities of the island’s private sector.
