GREAT BAY--Five recruits from the St. Maarten Police Force are among 23 new law enforcement recruits who have successfully completed the four-week “Stronger Together” introductory period and will now begin a two-year professional training program.
The class consists of 13 Coast Guard recruits, five recruits from the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN) and five from the St. Maarten Police Force (KPSM). The introductory period officially concluded Tuesday with an entry ceremony and cap ceremony at Parera Naval Base.
The recruits were challenged physically and mentally throughout the four-week program, with emphasis placed on personal development, resilience, teamwork, discipline and professional conduct. The program was designed to prepare them for the demands of their future roles while reinforcing cooperation among the different law enforcement services.
The introductory phase concluded with a final exercise before the recruits returned together to Parera Naval Base, where they were welcomed during the official entry ceremony.
Over the next two years, the recruits will undergo professional training and development in preparation for duties within the Coast Guard and their respective police forces. Their training will focus on professional knowledge, operational capabilities, integrity, teamwork, discipline and the ability to perform effectively under different circumstances.
The joint training program is also intended to strengthen cooperation between law enforcement organizations across the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The St. Maarten Police Force congratulated all 23 recruits on completing the first phase of the program and wished them success as they continue their training. The force said their commitment and dedication to public service represent an important step toward strengthening safety, security and effective law enforcement across the Caribbean community.
