GREAT BAY--NV GEBE has officially opened recruitment for three senior executive positions as the utility company moves to strengthen its leadership structure and long-term organizational capacity.

The recruitment process for Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer is being conducted by Linkels & Partners. Applications will remain open until August 31, 2026.

The three positions will form GEBE’s Managing Board and carry responsibility for the strategic, financial and operational leadership of the company. Together, the executives will be expected to guide the organization through continued improvement, strengthen governance and accountability, and support the reliable delivery of electricity and water services to St. Maarten.

The recruitment process seeks experienced professionals with senior leadership backgrounds, relevant academic qualifications and an understanding of complex organizations. For all three positions, GEBE considers a demonstrable connection to St. Maarten and a thorough understanding of the country’s social, political and business environment imperative.

Chief Executive Officer

The CEO will provide overall strategic leadership and general management of GEBE, working closely with the CFO and COO to establish and implement organizational policy and achieve the company’s strategic objectives.

The successful candidate will be expected to lead organizational change, strengthen operational effectiveness and maintain a balance between long-term strategic priorities and the day-to-day responsibilities of managing the company. The CEO will also work closely with the Supervisory Board and represent GEBE in its relationships with government, business partners and other key stakeholders.

Candidates should hold a master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Business Economics or a related field and have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of five years in senior executive positions. Experience in utilities or a related sector is highly desirable, while knowledge of renewable energy and the energy transition will be considered an advantage.

The position also requires a strong understanding of corporate governance, risk management and applicable legislation, along with strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills.

Chief Financial Officer

The CFO will be responsible for the strategic financial leadership of GEBE and oversight of the company’s financial management, planning, reporting and risk-management functions.

As a member of the Managing Board, the CFO will work with the CEO and COO to support strategic decision-making and ensure that GEBE maintains a strong and sustainable financial foundation. Responsibilities will include developing and executing financial strategy, providing financial analysis to support investments and other major decisions, strengthening financial governance and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

The CFO will also work closely with the Supervisory Board, auditors, financial institutions and other stakeholders while providing leadership to GEBE’s finance team.

Applicants should hold a master’s degree in Business Economics, Accountancy or a related field and have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of five years in a senior financial position. Experience in the utilities sector or a related industry is highly desirable.

The successful candidate should have extensive knowledge of financial planning, reporting, risk management and regulatory requirements, as well as the ability to translate complex financial information into clear recommendations for decision-makers.

Chief Operating Officer

The COO will oversee the day-to-day operations of GEBE’s electricity and water production and distribution activities and will be responsible for translating the company’s strategic objectives into effective operational plans.

Working alongside the CEO and CFO, the COO will focus on improving efficiency, strengthening performance management and ensuring reliable service delivery. The role includes monitoring operational performance, improving processes and resource management, responding to changing industry conditions and ensuring compliance with safety, operational and regulatory requirements.

The COO will also lead operational teams, support employee development and help strengthen a working environment focused on service quality, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Candidates should hold a master’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management or a related field and have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of five years in a senior operational position. Experience in utilities or a related industry is highly desirable, while knowledge of electricity and water production and distribution systems will be considered an advantage.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership and communication skills are required, together with the ability to manage complex operations and perform effectively in challenging circumstances.
