GREAT BAY--Men across St. Maarten are being encouraged to take a more active role in their health as the Elektra Lyets Foundation and Positive Foundation prepare to host “Let’s Talk About Sex 4,” a prostate cancer awareness event centered on open conversation, education and the importance of regular checkups.
The event, carrying the message “A Conversation That Could Save a Life,” will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Lions Civic Center, Sucker Garden Road 13, St. Maarten.
Under the call “Man Up, Check Up,” the evening will place particular attention on prostate cancer awareness and encourage men to become more informed about their health, the importance of screening and the need to address concerns before they become more serious.
A Men’s Night Out Happy Hour is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., creating an informal setting for men to come together ahead of the evening’s prostate cancer awareness discussion.
The event will feature a panel of health and wellness professionals who will bring different perspectives to the conversation on men’s health and prostate cancer.
Panelists include Dr. Diego Ramos, Urologist at St. Maarten Medical Center; Karen Eusebius, Dietitian; Solens Dornezon, Health and Fitness Coach; and Dr. Carlos Rojas, Urologist at St. Maarten Medical Center.
The combination of medical, nutritional and fitness expertise is intended to give participants a broader understanding of the factors that can influence men’s health, while creating space for questions and frank discussion around prostate cancer.
Organizers are using the event to reinforce a simple message: men should not wait until symptoms become serious before paying attention to their health. Regular medical checks, conversations with healthcare professionals and greater awareness of prostate cancer can all play an important role in early detection and treatment.
The event also aims to break down some of the hesitation that can prevent men from talking openly about prostate health, screening and other personal health concerns. By placing the discussion in a community setting, organizers hope to make those conversations more comfortable and accessible.
“Let’s Talk About Sex 4” forms part of broader prostate cancer awareness activities and brings together the Elektra Lyets Foundation, Positive Foundation, Collective Prevention Services and the St. Maarten Lions Club in promoting men’s health and encouraging early action.
