GREAT BAY--The owners of the private Tropial Road (nearby the Vineyard Buildings), which provides access to The Terraces of Great Bay, are calling on vehicle owners who have been parking along the roadway to remove their vehicles or risk having them towed at their own expense.

According to the property owners, vehicles regularly parked along the private road include those belonging to persons residing on land outside and below the roadway, as well as employees of nearby businesses and administrative offices.

In addition to vehicles being left along the roadway, the owners said abandoned or wrecked vehicles have been parked in the area and building materials have been dumped or stored alongside portions of the road.

The situation has now reached the point where legitimate property owners who purchased land at The Terraces of Great Bay are experiencing difficulty accessing their properties. Larger vehicles, including cement trucks needed for construction activities, are also having difficulty passing safely and efficiently.

The property owners said the issue has been addressed previously, including with the involvement of a community police officer, after which the roadway was cleared. However, the same problems have gradually returned.

They are therefore again requesting that all persons parking vehicles along Tropial Road remove them and keep the private roadway clear for access by property owners, construction vehicles and authorized users.

The owners said they would prefer cooperation rather than having to take stronger action, but warned that vehicles left in a manner that obstructs the private road could be removed at the vehicle owner’s expense.

Should the situation continue, the owners are also considering more permanent measures to control access, including once again closing off the road.

They are appealing to neighboring residents, employees and businesses in the area to respect the private property and ensure that the roadway remains unobstructed.

The owners stressed that keeping Tropial Road open was intended as a gesture of cooperation with the surrounding community, but said continued misuse of the roadway could make that arrangement impossible to maintain.
