PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — Angelique Romou, #10 candidate on the National Alliance slate, debuts her new web series entitled “Reverse the Trend”. Romou has vowed to carry out a transparent yet innovative campaign that aims to include rather than isolate the concerns and voice of the community in her commitment to reverse the negative trends that are plaguing our society.
The web series will stimulate much needed discussions in our community and be a platform for persons to voice their opinion, concerns and work towards viable solutions.
Every week, the series will highlight and engage the public on topics such as social issues, education reform, youth and constitutional reform. It is important to note that everyone appearing on the series is doing so willingly with the purpose of shedding light to their plight whilst empowering others in similar situations.
The first episode touches on the topic of Single Parents. Romou sits down with two single mothers to discuss the issues that are proving most challenging for single parents on the island and solutions (both in the short and long term) that can alleviate the burdens that single parents face. Romou professes to work and represent all persons within the community however she will be paying special attention to vulnerable target groups that require the added assistance.
Romou will use this platform as the foundation to her initiatives that will be championed in Parliament once elected. Romou believes that as a member of Parliament, you are indeed the voice of the people but in order to represent the people you must listen and engage the community so that you can champion initiatives that best suits the country.
