Dear people of Sint Maarten,

This week my team and I have officially announced that I will be contesting the elections on January 9th 2020.

During the many conversations, meetings and interview I have had so far, I elaborated on my reasons for contesting this elections. In short, Romain Laville never left politics. On the contrary, in my thank you address to the persons who entrusted me with their vote in 2016, I told the people of Sint Maarten: see you in 2020.

I made that statement then, not knowing the situation our people would have been two years after the passing of hurricanes Irma and Maria.

As someone:

1) who championed a social agenda while in Parliament;

2) who to date has passed the most amount of motions consisting of draft laws and law amendments;

3) who had to sit and watch as years go by while not one government executed any of these social initiatives that would have brought relief to our people living in poverty;

4) who is hearing the daily cries of students, parents and teachers who are begging for a school breakfast program, as the breakfast program I initiated together with PJIA and Goddard catering in 2014, that catered to all the students in the Public Schools was terminated after Hurricane Irma;

I had no choice but to contest this upcoming elections.

My team and I will once again champion a social agenda that focuses on bringing the much needed relief to our people, in doing so, aim to lift our nation out of poverty!

It is for this reason that I am asking you to join us on this journey come January 9th 2020 and say once and for all: I am tired of being tired, I am sick of being sick, I am fed up of being forgotten: ENOUGH is ENOUGH!

I ask for your support, I ask for your vote, I ask for you trust, I ask for your commitment, as I also commit to you unconditionally, just as I have done in the past.

Sincerely,

Romain
